Wow this was really cool! At Stacey and Davids wedding reception last Saturday (the post above this one), they had a live Steel Band Solo during dinner. This worked really well with the Pan music we were playing since a majority of the family was from Trinidad. I got some video shots of Selwyn in action, I loved it!

Besides a couple of wedding receptions, we had 2 graduation parties back to back. Both graduation parties had those bouncy thingys, and one of them had round dots on it (I think it was for a variation of twister or something).

Our second Graduation Party was on Saturday in Howell Michigan. This was a double graduation party for Matthew and Corinne. You will see in the pic above, that they also had a dunk tank besides one of those bouncy thingys. What was really cool with their graduation party, was that they also got 10 accent lights and a name light to be projected over the accent lighting. I got a chance to get some video between the dancing while the family did something by the fire for a few minutes. Click the video to get a better idea of how the lighting looked. Sorry we do not have any pictures from the event, but I did just get some feedback from a wedding reception in Grand Ledge Michigan. Besides the rehearsal dinner at Brian and Shawns parents house, we also were setup for their outdoor ceremony. This is called our Going to the Chapel Package. What we do is provide wireless technology, ceremony coordination, and music playback. This way everyone will hear you exchange your vows.
It was a gorgeous day at Sycamore Hills and the reception could not have been any better. Brian and Shawn were such a laid back couple. I love it when we have parties like these! I used to be one of those people that made fun of those with cutom plates and third brakes lights. You know like that guy whose license plate says 'GOTCHA' or '2FAST4U'. Well it looks like I joined that group when I installed my cutom brake light last week on my new Jeep. Ha, yea I know I am a dork!

Our last prom in Michigan this year was for Southfield Christian High School @ The Inn at St. Johns. We had a wedding last weekend in Macomb and we worked with Amy DeYoung. She is a fulltime Destination Wedding Photographer , currently working out of Texas. It turns out that Amy is pretty familiar with Florida as well. I used to live down in Daytona Beach Florida and the weather was great! The only thing that was pretty predictable was rain everyday at 2pm in August and September. I would seriously carry an umbrella with me everywhere I went. Oh and those fire ants are no joke, if you have ever had any encounters with them before.

Last Saturday we were @ Eagle Eye Golf Course in Bath Michigan for Alex and Annas wedding reception. They requested some great songs and even though the weather was a bummer, the night turned out perfect. I actually heard that it is good luck for the bride and groom if it rains on your wedding day. Hmmmm, just some food for thought.

Something else I noticed about the venue was the nuetral colors of the paint on the walls. The banquet hall just renovated their facilities recently and the wall color was one of the updates. I could not help but think how awesome wall accent lighting would have looked if we brought out 20 or so fixtures. I seriously saw this video laughed and got a little teary eyed. You can tell there was so much thought put into this song. This was a very thoughtful gesture and I loved how they tied the "We Do" all together at the very end with all the guests. This wedding could not have turned out any better. It was in White Lake Michigan @ White Lake Oaks, and we just happened to DJ Walled Lake Notherns prom the night before (pretty much the next city over). It turned out that we had students from WLN @ Richie and Kimmys wedding reception, they got to party with us twice that weekend lol!
A couple of things to note, they got some accent lighting which we put on the wall adjacent to the dance floor. This gave a really neat effect to the area being that the whole wall was changing colors with the music and controlled via computer. I wish that I had a better picture of the effect of this. Something else to bring up is that Oaks Management has like 50 different kinds of pastas for there meal. It was the most food I have ever seen.
Also something to mention, one week prior to events we give a pre-event consultation usually via telephone. When I spoke with Kimmy over the phone, she requested the turbo hustle... my jaw nearly dropped!
The Turbo Hustle in Detroit is the Hottest Dance
This story is so true and random that it deserves its own paragraph. I was @ a DJ store buying mucho equipment for the lighting event we had in Bloomfield that weekend. This guys notices that I am buying a ton of lighting and asks "whats the occasion?" I told him what we had going on, and that I owned and managed an entertainment and lighting company. He then asked, "have you heard of the turbo hustle? It is going to be Detroits next hottest Dance and I produced it along with DJ Maestro."
Honestly, the name did not ring a bell. He handed me a CD and dropped some big DJ names that worked the club circuit saying, "they bump this at all their main parties. You should play this at your next wedding!"
I kindly replied that, "I will definitely take a look into it, but most people want songs that they know how to dance to (and being that I never heard of this before I knew it would probably kill any dance floor I had going)."
We shook hands I left with my oggles of lighting equipment looking forward to programming it over the next coupe days to give the maximum effect for the upcoming event.
After driving home for some time, the shiny Turbo Hustle CD still fresh in its cellophane wrapping was peaking my curiosity. I just could not resist and immediately threw it into my 6 disc CD changer. Once the song began I tried to pay attention to the dance moves and realized why they called it the turbo hustle. Only someone that with A.D.D. and $20 worth of redbull could keep up with this song....
left left left right right right two to the left and two to the right knee knee bend down and roll... ROLL
I thought, "are you serious?! Why would someone create this song, it is nearly impossible to do, and you might injure yourself if you attempt any of these dance moves."
Back to the Phone Consultation
Kimmy asked, "do you have the turbo hustle?" I replied, "do I have it? I even met the producer! The question is can you dance to it?" So at their wedding, I watched in awe is Kimmy and Richie did the actual moves to the turbo hustle in front of all their friends and family. It turns out that Richie is actually a break dancer so his moves were on cue. They could not believe that I met the producer of this song, they said they found out about it, because they always mix it in on HOT 102.7. They googled the dance moves and found a youtube instructional video. What was really odd, was that the guy who gave me the CD said you need to play this at your next wedding... KIMMY AND RICHIE WERE THE NEXT WEDDING AND THEY REQUESTED IT!
